Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need before reserving a quarter, half, or whole beef.

How quarter, half, and whole beef purchases work

You're reserving a portion of a single, named animal from an independent processor. A quarter is one fourth of an animal, a half is one half, and a whole is the full animal. Each share comes with a balanced mix of cuts (steaks, roasts, ground beef) determined by the vendor's standard cut sheet.

Estimated take-home weights

Live weight, hanging weight, and take-home (packaged) weight are different numbers. Take-home weight is roughly 60–65% of hanging weight after trim and bone-out. Listings show an estimated take-home range; actual weight varies per animal.

Payment plans

You pay a deposit to reserve, then equal monthly installments (no interest, no credit check) until paid in full. Once your last payment clears, the vendor schedules delivery. Full details are in the Payment Plan Agreement.

Delivery

Your vendor delivers the order frozen, in a cold-chain vehicle, directly to your door. Delivery zones, lead times, and any fee are set by each vendor and shown on the listing.

What happens if a payment fails

We email you, retry the card up to three times over seven days, and give you a 7-day grace period to fix it. After 30 days past due the plan defaults; see the Payment Plan Agreement.

When the order is scheduled

Vendors schedule processing once your balance is paid in full. Delivery typically follows within the lead time published on the listing.

Who is responsible for the product

The vendor — an independent USDA or state-inspected processor — is the seller of record and is responsible for sourcing, processing, packaging, storage, and delivery. Pasture is the payment platform that connects you with the vendor.
